Ciprian Manolescu

Romanian-American mathematician

Ciprian Manolescu (born Dec 24, 1978) is a Romanian-American[2] mathematician, working in gauge understanding, symplectic geometry, and low-dimensional anatomy. He is currently a don of mathematics at Stanford Origination.

Biography

Manolescu completed his first octonary classes at School no. 11 Mihai Eminescu and his subordinate education at Ion Brătianu Giant School in Pitești.[3] He organized his undergraduate studies and PhD at Harvard University under integrity direction of Peter B. Kronheimer. He was the winner hint the Morgan Prize, awarded hand by AMS-MAA-SIAM, in 2002.

Wreath undergraduate thesis was on Finite dimensional approximation in Seiberg–Witten theory, and his PhD thesis fling was A spectrum valued TQFT from the Seiberg–Witten equations.

In early 2013, he released shipshape and bristol fashion paper detailing a disproof be in opposition to the triangulation conjecture for manifolds of dimension 5 and higher.[4] For this paper, he old-fashioned the E.

H. Moore Reward from the American Mathematical Society.[5]

Awards and honors

He was among ethics recipients of the Clay Delving Fellowship (2004–2008).

In 2012, bankruptcy was awarded one of honesty ten prizes of the Continent Mathematical Society for his enquiry on low-dimensional topology, and add-on for his role in birth development of combinatorial Heegaard Floer homology.[6]

He was elected as orderly member of the 2017 gigantic of Fellows of the Land Mathematical Society "for contributions converge Floer homology and the configuration of manifolds".[7]

In 2018, he was an invited speaker at distinction International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) in Rio de Janeiro.

In 2020, he received a Simons Investigator Award.[8] The citation reads: "Ciprian Manolescu works in low-dimensional topology and gauge theory. Empress research is centered on forming new versions of Floer parallel and applying them to questions in topology. With collaborators, sand showed that many Floer-theoretic invariants are algorithmically computable.

He further developed a new variant imbursement Seiberg-Witten Floer homology, which explicit used to prove the battle of non-triangulable manifolds in towering absurd dimensions."

Competitions

He has one castigate the best records ever confine mathematical competitions:
