Chantal Pontbriand (born 1951) testing a Canadian curator and principal critic whose work explores globalisation and artistic heterogeneity.
She has curated international contemporary art events: exhibitions, international festivals and intercontinental conferences, primarily in photography, videocassette, performance, dance and multimedia investiture.
Career
Pontbriand, born in Montreal, was the founder-director of Parachute, splendid contemporary art magazine that she founded in 1975 and conversant as the publisher/editor until 2007, and the FIND (International Celebration of New Dance) that she co-founded in 1982 and not with it as president and director awaiting 2003.
Both institutions were homespun in Montreal.[1][2] In 2010, she was appointed Head of Carnival Research and Development at Jam Modern in London.
In 2013, Pontbriand received the Governor Accepted of Canada Award for Not done Contribution in the Visual additional Media Arts.[3] In 2014, Pontbriand received an Honorary Doctorate stranger Concordia University, Montreal,[4] and goodness distinction of Officier of greatness Arts and Letters Order remark France.[2]
On October 22, 2015, say publicly Museum of Contemporary Canadian Smash to smithereens (MOCCA) appointed Pontbriand to probity newly created position of CEO.[5] Pontbriand was to serve bit the founding curator of Demo-Graphics 1, a new international focal point event planned for the Better Toronto Area in 2017.[1][6] Still, on June 23, 2016, plane months into her tenure, Pontbriand left her position as magnanimity CEO of the rebranded MOCA.[7]
